Troops Arrest Wanted Soldier Over Alleged Supply of Military Uniforms to Terrorists
Troops of Operation HADIN KAI have arrested a soldier who had been declared wanted by the Nigerian Army over his alleged involvement in supplying military uniforms to terrorist groups operating in Nigeria’s North-East region.
The arrest was disclosed by security analyst Zagazola Makama in a post shared on his X (formerly Twitter) account on Sunday.
According to the report, the soldier had been on the Army’s wanted list before he was apprehended by troops during ongoing counter-insurgency operations.
The suspect is accused of illegally supplying military uniforms to terrorists, an act considered a serious breach of national security because it enables criminal groups to impersonate security personnel and carry out attacks under the guise of legitimate military operations.
Although further details surrounding the arrest, including the identity of the suspect and the circumstances leading to his apprehension, were yet to be officially released, the development is seen as part of ongoing efforts by the military to sanitise its ranks and strengthen the fight against insurgency in the North-East.
The Nigerian military has continued to intensify internal measures aimed at identifying and prosecuting personnel found to be collaborating with criminal and terrorist elements.
