To Become President, Makinde Meets Obasanjo, Seeks Counsel Ahead 2027 General Election

Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, on Sunday, disclosed that he paid a visit to former President Olusegun Obasanjo at his residence in Abeokuta, Ogun State, where both leaders held discussions on key national issues ahead of the forthcoming 2027 general election.

The governor said the meeting focused on matters of national importance and the future of the country as political activities gradually gather momentum ahead of the next general election.

Makinde made the disclosure in a post on his official X handle, expressing appreciation to the former president for his guidance and fatherly advice.

“Earlier today, we visited Baba, His Excellency Chief Olusegun Obasanjo GCFR in Abeokuta. Our discussions centred on important national issues in view of the upcoming general election. We appreciate Baba for his wise counsel at this crucial time in our nation’s history,” the governor wrote.

Although Makinde did not disclose the specific issues discussed during the meeting, the visit comes at a time of heightened political consultations and strategic engagements among key stakeholders across the country ahead of the 2027 polls.
