Parents Asked to Check on Their Children as MAPOLY Expels 365 Students Over Fake Credentials

Authorities of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (MAPOLY), Abeokuta, have expelled 365 students for securing admission into the institution with falsified academic documents.

The affected students, enrolled in various Higher National Diploma (HND) programmes, were discovered to have presented fake National Diploma (ND) results and forged academic transcripts from different institutions during the admission process.

The expulsion followed a comprehensive verification exercise carried out by the Polytechnic to authenticate credentials submitted by students during admission and registration.

According to the institution, the action is part of efforts to sanitize the academic system and enforce its zero-tolerance policy against fraud and other forms of academic misconduct.

A breakdown of the affected students shows that 156 were from the School of Communication and Information Technology, 117 from the School of Business and Management Studies, 54 from the School of Science and Technology, 36 from the School of Engineering, and two from the School of Environmental Studies.

Reacting to the development, the Rector, Arc. Dr. Koye Jolaoso, warned prospective applicants against the use of fake academic credentials to gain admission into the institution.

He stated that the decision reflects the Polytechnic’s commitment to upholding academic integrity, promoting excellence, and strengthening its reputation as a credible and transparent institution of higher learning.
