Oyo Fire Service Contains Electrical Blaze in Ibadan Residential Building
The Oyo State Fire Services Agency has contained a fire outbreak at a residential building near the C.A.C Oke-Ayo area of Idi-Obi Junction, Agugu, Ibadan, preventing what could have been a major disaster.
Fire Service personnel, led by Assistant Chief Fire Superintendent Adisa, said the personnel of the agency were quickly mobilized to the scene following a distress call received by the service.
Upon their arrival, a five-bedroom flat on the upper floor of the affected storey building was already engulfed in thick smoke.
According to the agency, the firefighters swung into action and brought the blaze under control and stopped it from spreading to the ground floor and nearby buildings.
No casualties were recorded in the incident as the agency attributed the fire to electrical sparks from an appliance when public electricity supply was restored.
Security operatives from the Agugu Divisional Police Headquarters and the Amotekun Corps of Ibadan North East Local Government also assisted at the scene.
The Fire Services Agency confirmed that its personnel returned safely to base and remained on standby for further emergencies.
