Half-Alive, Dead People & Underage to Vote Again As INEC Postpones Nationwide Voter Revalidation Exercise Until After 2027 Elections
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has postponed its planned nationwide voter revalidation exercise until after the 2027 general elections.
In a statement issued on Friday, Mohammed Haruna, INEC’s National Commissioner and Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee, said the decision was reached during a meeting between the commission and Resident Electoral Commissioners (RECs).
“Following deliberations, the commission resolved to postpone the exercise until after the 2027 General Election,” the statement read.
Meanwhile, Nigerians have continued to react to the development across all social media platforms particularly X.
Many said, INEC should have done what is just as the Nigerian government has allocated enough money to the commission to do all that the commission needs to do.
They, however, expressed worry that as INEC failed to carry out the exercise and do the needful, there will be repetition of half-alive, dead people and underage on the voter register during the upcoming elections in the country.
