NELFUND Disburses Over ₦3.05 Billion to Support 15,939 Students Nationwide

 

The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has intensified its commitment to expanding access to higher education, disbursing over ₦3.05 billion to support students across Nigeria for the 2025/2026 academic session.

The ongoing nationwide intervention covers tuition and upkeep allowances, ensuring that thousands of beneficiaries can pursue their studies without financial disruption.

According to the latest update, 15,939 students across 12 institutions nationwide have benefited from the current phase of disbursement, which spans January to February 2026.

The initiative underscores NELFUND’s determination to promote equitable access to higher education and strengthen human capital development across the country.

Key beneficiary institutions include Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), University of Ibadan (UI), University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), Bayero University Kano (BUK), Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), University of Benin (UNIBEN), Federal University of Technology Akure (FUTA), University of Ilorin (UNILORIN), Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU), University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT), Federal University of Technology Owerri (FUTO), and Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike (MOUAU).

In addition to the institutions highlighted, other beneficiaries include Osun State University, Aliko Dangote University of Science and Technology, as well as several federal and state polytechnics and colleges of education across Nigeria.

The broad coverage reflects the Fund’s nationwide reach and its inclusive approach to supporting students in diverse fields of study.
