Federal Airports Authority Confirms Cashless Operation From March 1st, Validates ‘GO CASHLESS’ SMS Notifications to Clients
The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has become aware of misinformation circulating regarding SMS notifications about the commencement of the Operation Go Cashless initiative.
A counter-message currently in circulation warns recipients not to open the SMS link, claiming it is a scam intended to drain bank accounts.
FAAN categorically states that this claim is false, misleading, and unfounded.
The official SMS notifications about Operation Go Cashless are genuine and were sent in partnership with MTN Nigeria as part of FAAN’s nationwide public awareness campaign.
The programme is scheduled to officially begin on 1 March 2026.
All authorised SMS messages communicating the start date are legitimate and are integral to FAAN’s transition to a fully cashless, contactless payment system at all airport payment points nationwide.
Members of the public are advised to ignore false counter-messages and rely only on verified information from FAAN’s official communication platforms.
FAAN remains committed to transparency, passenger convenience, and the safety and security of all airport users. For further clarification, the public is encouraged to visit FAAN’s official communication channels.
