Breaking: Oyo Assembly in Session as ₦891.9bn 2026 Appropriation Bill Nears Passage
The Oyo State House of Assembly is today deliberating on the ₦891.9 billion 2026 Appropriation Bill, with the third reading of the bill currently ongoing at plenary.
Lawmakers are considering the final stage of the budget process at the sitting presided over by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin, as the House moves towards passing the bill into law.
The House is examining a total budget estimate of ₦891,985,074,480.79, comprising ₦389.3 billion for recurrent expenditure and ₦502.6 billion for capital expenditure.
Breakdown of the initial recurrent expenditure under consideration shows ₦156.38 billion allocated for personnel costs, ₦122.21 billion for overheads and ₦110.84 billion for other recurrent obligations.
While the capital expenditure, which takes more than half of the budget, reflects the Assembly’s emphasis on infrastructure development, economic expansion and long-term growth.
Earlier, The Speaker, Honorable Adebo Ogundoyin, affirmed that the ongoing third reading marks a critical legislative step towards the eventual passage of the 2026 Appropriation Bill.
It would be recalled that the lawmakers had earlier scrutinised the estimates through committee reviews and budget defence sessions with Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs).
