‎Governor Makinde Laments Six-Year Waste Management Struggles In Oyo State, Promises Lasting Solution Before 2027_ Audio



‎Oyo State Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde, has lamented the difficulties his administration has faced in achieving effective waste management in Ibadan over the past six years, assuring residents that the problem will be resolved before the end of his tenure in 2027.

‎The governor gave the assurance while speaking at an event in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, where he acknowledged the persistent nature of the waste disposal challenges confronting the city.


‎Makinde admitted that despite efforts made since his administration assumed office, a lasting solution has yet to be achieved, describing the situation as unacceptable for a major city like Ibadan.

‎He apologized to residents for the prolonged problem, noting that visible heaps of waste across parts of the city reflect a shortcoming his government is determined to correct.

‎Governor Makinde stressed that governance requires seriousness and accountability, adding that addressing environmental sanitation remains a key responsibility of government.

‎He then harped that concrete measures are now being put in place to ensure a permanent solution to the waste management challenges and improve cleanliness across the state capital.
