FG Digitises Academic Certificate Verification, Ends Physical Visits

The Federal Government has digitised the evaluation and authentication of academic certificates, ending the need for applicants to visit the Federal Ministry of Education in person.

The Ministry of Education announced the development on Tuesday, saying the reform is designed to make certificate verification faster, more transparent and accessible to applicants both within Nigeria and abroad.

Under the new system, applicants can complete the entire credential evaluation and authentication process online through the Ministry’s dedicated platform.

The Minister of Education, Dr Maruf Tunji Alausa, CON, said the initiative is part of the government’s broader digital transformation agenda under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

According to him, the automated system will reduce bureaucratic delays while strengthening the credibility and integrity of Nigeria’s academic certification process.

The new platform will also provide educational institutions, employers and other relevant stakeholders with a structured mechanism for verifying academic qualifications.

The Ministry said the initiative forms part of its broader efforts to modernise education governance, improve efficiency and provide more convenient, citizen-focused services.
