Oyo Police Release Names of 17 Rescued Children, Ask Parents to Visit Headquarters for Identification or Report Missing Children

‎The Oyo State Police Command has released the names of 17 children rescued from an alleged child trafficking syndicate, whose members were paraded at the Eleyele Police Headquarters in Ibadan on Monday.
‎
‎The Commissioner of Police, CP Abimbola Ayodeji Olugbenga, disclosed this while giving an update on the investigation into the alleged trafficking syndicate and the recovery of the children.
‎
‎CP Olugbenga said confessions made by some of the suspects enabled detectives to trace the missing children to Mowe in Ogun State and Agbor in Delta State, where the victims were subsequently rescued.
‎
‎The Commissioner confirmed that a total of 17 children were rescued during the operation, comprising 16 children aged between two and seven years and a nine day old infant.
‎
‎While announcing the names of the rescued children to the public, CP Olugbenga also confirmed that six other children died while in captivity.
‎
‎The Command has consequently appealed to parents and guardians who have been searching for their missing children to visit the Oyo State Police Headquarters, Eleyele, Ibadan, to check and identify whether their children are among those rescued.
‎
‎Parents and guardians whose missing children are not among the rescued victims have also been advised to lodge formal complaints with the police and provide relevant information that could assist investigators in tracing their whereabouts.
‎
‎The Command assured members of the public that the investigation is ongoing, with efforts being intensified to identify other persons allegedly connected to the trafficking network, recover more victims and ensure that anyone found culpable faces the law.
