Oriire School Attack: Oyo Residents now Worried, Government Must Reassure Citizens —   Aborisade

Fresh reactions have continued to trail the deadly attack on schools in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State, as leading ADC governorship aspirant for the 2027 election, Barrister Chief Niyi Aborisade, warned that fear and uncertainty were gradually taking over communities across the state.

Aborisade said the coordinated attack, which reportedly left an assistant headmaster dead and several pupils and teachers abducted, had further heightened public anxiety and raised serious questions about the security situation in Oyo State.

The ADC chieftain, while reacting to the development, said attacks involving schools and children should never become a recurring reality under any administration.

According to him, the incident goes beyond a mere criminal attack, describing it as a direct assault on the peace, confidence and future of the people.

“The disturbing reports from Oriire Local Government have left many residents shocked and worried. Parents are now afraid, communities are anxious, and there is a growing feeling of uncertainty among citizens,” he said.

Aborisade stated that when people begin to fear sending their children to school or travelling freely within their communities, it signals a dangerous situation that demands immediate attention.

He stressed that beyond rescue operations and emergency responses, residents need assurance that government authorities are fully in control and capable of protecting lives and property.

The governorship hopeful noted that cases of kidnapping and violent attacks appear to be increasing, insisting that stronger preventive measures and community-based security mechanisms must be adopted.

He added that the latest attack exposed existing weaknesses within rural security arrangements, particularly in communities located around forest corridors.

“Government must do more to reassure citizens. Oyo people should not live in fear. The atmosphere of panic and uncertainty must not become our new reality,” he said.

Aborisade further urged the administration of Governor Seyi Makinde to strengthen security presence in vulnerable areas and collaborate more effectively with security agencies and local intelligence networks.

He called for urgent action to restore public confidence, insisting that the protection of schools, teachers and children should be treated as a priority.

The ADC governorship aspirant also sympathised with families of victims and prayed for the safe return of those abducted.
The Oriire attack has continued to spark outrage among residents and political stakeholders, with many calling for urgent steps to prevent future occurrences and address growing security concerns in the state.
