Borno Senator Disburses ₦135.65 Million to APC Executives for Sallah Celebration

The Senator representing Borno Central, Kaka Shehu Lawan, has disbursed ₦135,650,000 to All Progressives Congress (APC) executives across his constituency ahead of the Eid-el-Kabir celebration.

According to a statement shared on Friday via Facebook by his legislative assistant, Usman Alkali, the gesture marks the third time the senator has made such financial support since assuming office in the National Assembly.

The post, originally written in Hausa and translated by our correspondent, stated that the funds were distributed on Thursday to APC executives across Borno Central to assist with preparations for the festive period.

“Senator Kaka Shehu Lawan (SAN) distributed ₦135,650,000 to APC executives in Borno Central for the Eid al-Kabir celebration,” the statement read.

Alkali explained that the intervention was aimed at supporting party officials ahead of the holiday season and appreciating their role in strengthening democratic engagement within the constituency.

He added that this was the third instance of such financial support since the senator joined the National Assembly.

The statement further noted that the gesture was intended to encourage unity and commitment among party structures in the area.

Meanwhile, Lawan had earlier withdrawn from the Borno governorship race and endorsed his rival, Mustapha Gubio, who was backed by Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum.

His withdrawal followed a stakeholders’ meeting in Abuja, where it was reportedly agreed that he step down in favour of Gubio while retaining his Senate seat.
