1,067 Candidates Fail 2025 Bar Finals as Pass Rate Drops to 79.1%

The Council of Legal Education (CLE) has announced the results of the 2025 Bar Final Examinations, revealing that 1,067 candidates were unsuccessful. A total of 7,602 candidates sat for the examinations held in December 2025.

Despite the number of failures, many candidates achieved impressive results. According to the council:

  • 212 candidates earned First Class Honours
  • 1,216 candidates obtained Second Class Upper
  • 2,961 candidates graduated with Second Class Lower
  • 1,622 candidates received a Pass
  • 314 candidates recorded Conditional Passes
  • 210 candidates were absent

The overall pass rate stood at 79.1%, marking a decline from the 84% pass rate recorded in 2024.

The CLE congratulated all successful candidates, describing their performance as the result of hard work, commitment, and determination.

The council also stated that information regarding the screening process and the schedule for the Call to the Bar ceremony would be communicated through candidates’ individual portals on the Nigerian Law School website.

Compared to the previous year, the 2025 results show a slight drop in overall performance, but they also reflect the dedication and resilience of thousands of aspiring legal professionals.
