Oyo Government Begins Major Refuse Evacuation Drive, Calls for Residents’ Compliance
The Oyo State Government has intensified efforts to restore environmental sanity with a major refuse evacuation drive across the Ibadan metropolis.
Leading the initiative, the Commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources, honorable Ademola Aderinto, conducted an inspection of ongoing clean-up operations along major roads in Ibadan metropolis.
Speaking during the exercise, honorable Aderinto explained that the inspection was aimed at addressing growing concerns over indiscriminate waste disposal in the state.
According to him, the evacuation exercise is currently ongoing in several locations, including Araromi Market at Iwo Road and parts of the Academy Expressway drainage.
However, Aderinto expressed concern that the funds being used for the clean-up could have been directed toward other developmental projects, stressing that indiscriminate dumping diverts resources meant for infrastructure and social services.
He urged residents to comply with environmental regulations by working with accredited waste collectors and using official complaint channels when issues arise.
