Tope Alabi Threatens Legal Action Over Defamatory Videos, False Claims

Popular gospel singer and evangelist Tope Alabi has warned members of the public against circulating allegedly false and defamatory videos, statements and other materials about her, threatening legal action against offenders.

Alabi issued the warning in a public notice shared on her verified Instagram page, @tope_alabi_, on Friday, October 23, 2026, with the caption, “Please note this as regards any malicious video or speech against me.”

The notice was issued by her solicitors, Oakmount Legal Practitioners, through Toluwanimi Okunade, Esq.

In the notice, dated October 23, the law firm stated that Alabi had spent nearly 30 years building a reputation for integrity and public trust, adding that it had become aware of allegedly false and injurious statements about the gospel minister being published and circulated across various platforms.

The lawyers warned that anyone who publishes or circulates false or malicious content about the singer, whether through written statements, videos, audio recordings, social media posts or spoken words, could be held personally liable.

The notice also cautioned that individuals who repost, share or amplify such materials could face legal consequences.

According to the solicitors, operating through anonymous or unverified social media accounts would not provide immunity from legal action. They added that their client reserved the right to seek court orders compelling relevant platforms to identify individuals behind such accounts.

The law firm further directed anyone who had already published the alleged defamatory materials to remove them immediately, while stressing that deletion would not automatically absolve the individuals concerned of liability for the original publication.

The notice stated that Alabi had instructed her lawyers to commence legal proceedings against alleged violators without further notice.

The proposed legal action, according to the solicitors, could include claims for aggravated damages, injunctions, retractions and public apologies.

However, the lawyers clarified that the warning was not intended to prevent truthful statements or fair comments on matters of public interest.

The notice concluded by stating that all the singer’s legal rights and remedies remained reserved.

The warning comes amid the circulation of videos and online commentaries targeting the gospel singer in recent days.
