Blackout To Hit Parts Of Lagos As TCN Announces Maintenance Exercise

Parts of Lagos State are expected to experience a power outage on Tuesday as the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) conducts a planned maintenance exercise on its Ikeja West/Ejigbo 132kV Transmission Line 1 at the Ejigbo Transmission Substation.

TCN disclosed this in a notice issued on Tuesday, stating that the exercise would take place between 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.

According to the company, the maintenance exercise is expected to affect approximately 40 megawatts of electricity load at the Ejigbo Transmission Substation during the four-hour period.

TCN explained that the outage was necessary to enable its maintenance crew to carry out routine work on the Ikeja West/Ejigbo 132kV Transmission Line 1.

The company added that the Ikeja West/Ejigbo 132kV Transmission Line 2 would also be temporarily taken out of service to provide a safe working environment for the maintenance crew.

However, TCN said electricity supply to Airport load would be diverted to the Isolo Transmission Line to minimise the impact of the maintenance exercise.

The planned maintenance forms part of the company’s efforts to carry out routine checks and ensure the safety and reliability of its transmission infrastructure.
