Oyo Police Arrest Indian National, Two Security Operatives Over Assault on Truck Drivers
The Oyo State Police Command has arrested 3 suspects, including an Indian national and 2 security operatives, over a viral video showing the alleged assault of 2 truck drivers at Karma Agric Feeds and Foods Limited along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, Ibadan.
The Command disclosed this in a press release issued on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, by its Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Olayinka Ayanlade, stating that the suspects were arrested following the circulation of the video showing the incident at the company’s facility, located at Kilometer 12, Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, Ibadan.
According to the statement, the Command was alerted to the video at about 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, prompting the Commissioner of Police, Oyo State Command, CP Abimbola Ayodeji Olugbenga, to direct detectives to identify and apprehend all those involved for investigation.
Preliminary findings indicated that the confrontation arose from a disagreement over the parking of a truck that had delivered goods to the company on Saturday.
The truck owner, Akinpelu Sarafa, 47, reportedly said the driver objected to a designated parking space over concerns that it could damage the truck’s tyres. However, the driver was allegedly compelled to park there, after which one of the tyres burst.
The disagreement reportedly escalated when the driver requested a replacement tyre, but the company declined. The driver subsequently allegedly used his truck to block the company’s entrance, triggering a physical confrontation involving the drivers, security operatives and an Indian national.
The police identified the 2 victims as Ridwan Olajide, 34, and Taiwo Yinusa, 37. Both were taken to a hospital in the Academy area of Ibadan for medical attention.
The statement added that, as part of efforts to establish the facts surrounding the incident, the investigating police officer visited the victims at the hospital and obtained their statements.
The 3 suspects arrested were identified as Olowu Oluwadamilare and Sodeke Olamide, both security operatives attached to the company, and Harjit Singh, a 46-year-old Indian national associated with the company.
The police said investigations were ongoing to establish the respective roles of the suspects and determine the culpability of all parties involved in the incident.
The case has been transferred to the Special Enquiry Bureau (SEB), Eleyele, Ibadan, for further investigation and necessary action in accordance with the law.
The Command reiterated its commitment to protecting lives and property and ensuring that the law applies equally to all individuals and organisations.
It urged members of the public to remain calm and allow the investigation to proceed, assuring that anyone found culpable would be dealt with in accordance with the law.
