Oyo Police Rescue Additional Four Children, Reunite Them With Parents
The Oyo State Police Command has rescued four additional children allegedly stolen from their biological parents and sold at different times, bringing the number of children rescued in connection with an ongoing suspected child-stealing, human trafficking and baby factory investigation to 21.
The latest breakthrough followed the Command’s earlier public briefing on the rescue of 17 children and the arrest of suspects in connection with the alleged criminal syndicate.
According to the Command, following the briefing and circulation of video clips of the rescued children, some parents who recognised circumstances surrounding their missing children came forward to lodge complaints.
The fresh complaints, the police said, provided new investigative leads and prompted further interrogation of the principal suspect, AdeJoke Popoola, a female also known as Orente Alagbo.
During interrogation, the suspect allegedly disclosed the whereabouts of additional children who had been stolen and sold.
Acting on the information and other investigative leads, police operatives travelled to Lagos State on September 3, 2026, where they rescued 3-year-old Taiwo Olamilekan from the Akoka area.
The investigation was subsequently extended to the Ikorodu area of Lagos State, where operatives rescued another child, Aleemi Omogoriola Okuleye, on September 8, 2026.
As the investigation continued, the police said the team proceeded to Delta State on September 13, 2026, following another lead concerning children allegedly stolen from their biological parents.
The operation culminated in the rescue of two children from the same parents in Agbor, Delta State, on September 14.
The children, 9-year-old Adeyinka Ayomide and 2-year-old Adeyinka Gold, were allegedly stolen from their parents in Ogun State before being taken to Delta State.
The Command said that following the recovery of the four children, necessary verification was conducted to establish their identities and confirm their biological parents.
The children have since been reunited with their respective families, according to the police.
The Command described the development as another breakthrough in the investigation, saying it demonstrated the importance of sustained interrogation, credible information and cooperation from affected families in tracing victims and uncovering the activities of the suspected syndicate.
The Commissioner of Police, Oyo State Command, CP Abimbola Ayodeji Olugbenga, psc, mnips, has consequently directed the investigative team to sustain the momentum and pursue every credible lead towards identifying other victims and uncovering the wider network allegedly behind the child-stealing and trafficking operation.
The Commissioner also directed that all persons found culpable in the course of the investigation should be brought to justice.
The Command urged parents and guardians whose children remain missing to come forward with relevant information that could assist investigators in tracing other victims and apprehending those allegedly involved in the criminal enterprise.
