Osun Government Raises Alarm Over Fake Sports Trust Fund Website
The Osun State Government has warned members of the public against a website being circulated as the official “Osun State Sports Trust Fund”, describing the platform as fraudulent and unauthorised.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the state government identified the website as osunsportstrustfund.com and clarified that it was neither owned, authorised nor operated by the Osun State Government. It urged members of the public to disregard any information published on the platform and avoid responding to requests or appeals emanating from it.
The government specifically cautioned residents against making payments, providing personal information or engaging in transactions through the website. It said, “The Osun State Government wishes to alert members of the public that the website https://osunsportstrustfund.com circulating as the ‘Osun State Sports Trust Fund’ is fraudulent and is not owned, authorised or operated by the Osun State Government.”
The warning comes against the backdrop of the state government’s earlier plan to establish a Sports Trust Fund as part of efforts to create a sustainable financing framework for sports development. In February 2025, Governor Ademola Adeleke announced that his administration was finalising the legal framework for the establishment of a Sports Commission and Sports Trust Fund.
The government said the initiative was designed to support the development of sports, improve sporting infrastructure and provide sustainable funding for athletes and related programmes. It therefore urged members of the public to exercise caution and rely only on verified official channels for information concerning the proposed Sports Trust Fund.
