‎Oyo Government Urges Integration of Amotekun Expertise into National Security Training, Sets to Write Relevant Federal Agencies

‎The Oyo State Government has called for a deliberate combination of formal intelligence training and spiritual intelligence to effectively tackle Nigeria’s evolving security threats.

‎Acting Governor, Barrister Bayo Lawal, represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Musibau Babatunde, made the call at the Secretariat, Ibadan, while receiving participants of the Advanced Defence Intelligence Officers’ Course 16/2026, who were in the state on a study tour.

‎Lawal said the country’s security challenges had gone beyond conventional threats to include kidnapping, banditry, organised crime, cyber threats, human trafficking and communal tensions.

‎He then appealed that the Western Nigeria Security Network, codenamed Amotekun Corps, should be incorporated into national defence and intelligence courses to enable participants benefit from its local experience.

‎The Acting Governor, who cited instances where Amotekun operatives had deployed spiritual intelligence to complement conventional policing, said the state government would formally write to relevant agencies to seek the integration of the corps into future national security courses.
