Tinubu to Chair APC 2027 Presidential Campaign Council, Yari Named DG

The Presidency has released the composition of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council for the 2027 general elections, with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu named Chairman of the council.

According to a statement signed by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Vice President Kashim Shettima will serve as Vice Chairman, alongside APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda.

Former Zamfara State Governor and Senator representing Zamfara West, Abdulaziz Yari, has been appointed Director General of the campaign council, while Imo State Governor and Chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum, Hope Uzodinma, will serve as Secretary.

APC National Secretary, Ajibola Bashiru, and Hadiza Bala Usman were named Deputy Secretary and Assistant Secretary respectively.

The statement said the campaign council’s advisory team would include Chief Bisi Akande, Chief Segun Osoba, Senator Rochas Okorocha, Senator Abdullahi Adamu and Senator Florence Ita Giwa.

It added that Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas and Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni would serve as Deputy Directors General for the South and North, working alongside Senator Bamidele Opeyemi and Senator Jibril Barau.

Senator Adams Oshiomhole was named Deputy Director General in charge of mobilisation, while the President’s Chief of Staff will serve as Deputy Director General for Administration.

James Abiodun Faleke, who played a key role in the APC’s 2022/2023 presidential campaign, has also returned as Deputy Director General for Election Planning, Coordination and Monitoring.

Faleke will work with zonal directors, including Senator Olushola Adeyeye for the South-West, Dr Ngozi Olejeme for the South-South, Senator Uche Ekwunife for the South-East, Muntaqha Rabe for the North-West, Ahmed Muhammed Ketso for the North-Central and Senator Sani Danladi for the North-East.

Stella Okotete, Engineer Abdullahi Garba Ramat and Audu Maikori were named Secretaries of the Election Planning Directorate.

Muiz Adeyemi Banire will head the Legal Directorate, with Dr Liman Hassan and Babatunde Ogala serving as deputies. Other members of the directorate include Prince Lateef Fagbemi, former Katsina State Governor Ibrahim Shema, Worgu Boms and Dr Kingsley Tochukwu Udeh.

The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris Malagi, will serve as Coordinating Director for Media and Strategic Communication, alongside Dele Alake, Bayo Onanuga and Lanre Issa-Onilu.

Tunde Rahman, Sunday Dare, Daniel Bwala and Felix Morka will serve as Coordinating Deputy Directors in the Media Directorate.

In the statement, the campaign council said it was prepared to showcase the achievements of the Tinubu administration and mobilise support for the APC ahead of the 2027 elections.

“As we march into the campaign season, we have many achievements to trumpet—let us confidently showcase our record and inspire hope in every corner of our nation,” the statement said.

The council also urged its members and supporters to work towards securing victory for the APC in the 2027 presidential election.
