Firefighters Contain Blaze at Nine Shops in Aleshinloye Market, Ibadan
The Oyo State Fire Services Agency has successfully contained a fire outbreak that engulfed nine locked-up shops at the Railway Shopping Complex, Leak Road, Aleshinloye Market, Ibadan.
The incident was reported at about 5:58 a.m. on Saturday, following a telephone call from a member of the public, identified as Mr. Taofeek, who alerted the agency to the fire outbreak.
A firefighting crew led by Chief Fire Superintendent Adesina was immediately mobilised to the scene with about 20,000 litres of water trucks used to eventually bring the fire under control and completely extinguishing it within a short period.
The swift response prevented the fire from spreading to adjoining shops and other properties within the complex.
No casualty was recorded in the incident, while preliminary investigation indicated that an electrical surge may have triggered the fire and ignited combustible materials inside the affected shops.
