2027: Oyo ADC Guber Candidate Adegboyega Inaugurates Campaign Council, Promises Dividends of Democracy
The Oyo State governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Oloye Taofeek Adegboyega, has inaugurated his campaign council ahead of the 2027 governorship election, promising to deliver tangible dividends of democracy to residents if given the opportunity to serve as governor.
The inauguration took place on Monday at Adegboyega’s campaign office in Oke-Ado, Ibadan, where he outlined key areas of his proposed administration, including grassroots development, agriculture, electricity, youth employment and education.
Speaking at the event, Adegboyega promised that, if given the opportunity to govern the state, he would grant full autonomy to local governments and ensure that residents at the grassroots benefit directly from government.
He said, “If given the opportunity to serve Oyo State as Governor, the local government will have full autonomy and the local government chairman’s sitting chair will not be bending like one he saw recently.”
Adegboyega also pledged to boost agriculture and attract investors to the state, particularly in the power sector, as part of efforts to improve electricity supply, stimulate economic activities and create employment opportunities for young people.
“I will boost agriculture and bring in investors to provide electricity for the people of the state and ensure employment opportunities for the youths,” he said.
On education, the ADC candidate promised that, if given the opportunity to serve, his administration would tackle the educational deficit in the state and address the challenge of out-of-school children.
He said his government would pursue policies aimed at improving access to quality education and ensuring that the people of Oyo State enjoy meaningful dividends of democracy.
Adegboyega also said his administration would give greater attention to the development of small and medium-scale enterprises, with policies designed to support local businesses, encourage entrepreneurship and create a more favourable environment for investment and job creation.
He further pledged to prioritise infrastructure development across the state, including roads and other essential public facilities, saying improved infrastructure would strengthen economic activities and make communities more accessible.
The ADC candidate also identified healthcare and social development as important areas requiring government attention, promising to work towards improving access to essential services and raising the standard of living of residents across both urban and rural communities.
The inauguration also saw the appointment of Adebayo Olusola Kesh, Esq., as Director-General of the campaign council. Kesh is expected to coordinate the campaign’s activities and mobilisation efforts across the state ahead of the 2027 election.
Adegboyega said his campaign would focus on presenting a development agenda that would translate democratic governance into tangible improvements in the lives of residents if given the opportunity to lead Oyo State.
He urged members of the campaign council and supporters of the party to remain committed to the vision of building a state where government policies and programmes would have direct and measurable impact on the people.
The inauguration marks another step in the ADC’s preparations for the 2027 governorship election in Oyo State, with the campaign council expected to commence its mobilisation and engagement with residents across the state in the months ahead.
