2027: ACCORD Reaffirms Busari as Oyo Governorship Candidate, Rallies Members for Unity
The Oyo State chapter of the ACCORD has reaffirmed Hon. Kunle Busari, popularly known as Guudu Guudu, as its authentic governorship candidate for the 2027 general elections, while urging members to remain united and focused ahead of the polls.
The reaffirmation came during an enlarged stakeholders’ meeting convened by the Oyo State Working Committee of the party, led by the State Chairman, Prince Kolade Ojo, and the State Secretary, Hon. Olayinka Dairo, as part of efforts to strengthen party unity and cohesion.
The meeting, held in Ibadan, was attended by the chairmen of the party across the 33 local government areas, state executives and other stakeholders. Also in attendance were the ACCORD National Secretary, Hon. (Dr.) Adebukola Ajaja, and the party’s governorship candidate, Hon. Kunle Busari.
In a statement jointly signed by Prince Kolade Ojo and Hon. Olayinka Dairo, the party said the meeting provided an opportunity to brief members on developments within the party, review campaign strategies, receive feedback from ward and local government structures, and discuss issues relating to the unity and progress of ACCORD.
Addressing the gathering, Ajaja urged party faithful to remain steadfast, calm and undistracted by what she described as political distractions from individuals seeking to hijack the party’s structure for personal ambition.
She maintained that the party’s leadership remained intact and that the list of candidates produced through its primaries for the 2027 elections remained valid.
“Let me assure you that those behind these distractions will be surprised when the Independent National Electoral Commission publishes the authentic list of candidates for next year’s elections,” she said.
Ajaja reaffirmed that Busari remained the party’s duly nominated governorship candidate in Oyo State, adding that all other candidates produced through the party’s primaries were recognised by the electoral umpire.
She also appealed to party supporters not to relent in mobilising support for all ACCORD candidates ahead of the elections.
Speaking at the meeting, Busari called on members to intensify grassroots mobilisation and continue promoting the party across the state. He disclosed that campaign materials would soon be distributed to all local government areas to support voter education and facilitate campaign activities.
“We shall provide everything you need to canvass support for ACCORD when campaigns begin in earnest,” he said.
Busari stressed that elections are won through effective strategy rather than noise, urging members to remain confident and trust the party’s leadership.
Earlier, the State Chairman, Prince Kolade Ojo, charged party members to remain focused, strategic and committed to expanding the party’s support base, expressing confidence that ACCORD was well-positioned to produce the next government in Oyo State.
The State Secretary, Hon. Olayinka Dairo, commended members of the State Executive Committee, particularly the State Treasurer, Hon. Nurudeen Okunola, as well as party leaders, including Alhaji Sulaiman Aleshinloye of Ibadan South East, for their loyalty and commitment to the party.
The meeting also featured reports from the 33 local government chairmen, who highlighted ongoing grassroots mobilisation efforts and expressed optimism about the party’s chances in the 2027 elections.
