Shettima Arrives Sierra Leone for 69th ECOWAS Heads of State Summit

Vice President Kashim Shettima has arrived in Lungi, Sierra Leone, to participate in the 69th Ordinary Summit of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) Heads of State and Government.

Shettima was received on arrival at the Sierra Leone International Airport in Lungi by Sierra Leone’s Vice President, Dr. Mohamed Jalloh; Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu; and the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Sola Enikanolaiye.

Also on hand to welcome the Vice President were Nigeria’s High Commissioner to Sierra Leone, Ambassador Ayo Luther-Ogbomode; the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Gas), Ekperikpe Ekpo; Nigeria’s Permanent Representative to ECOWAS, Ambassador Olawale Awe; and other senior government officials.

The high-level summit brings together West African leaders, top government officials, diplomats and development partners to deliberate on critical regional issues, including peace and security, economic integration, democratic governance and sustainable development.

Nigeria’s participation underscores its continued commitment to regional cooperation, diplomacy and collective efforts aimed at promoting stability, economic growth and deeper integration among ECOWAS member states.

The summit is expected to produce key resolutions on pressing political, security and economic challenges confronting the West African sub-region.
