Burna Boy’s mum asks singer to get married, have children
Bose Ogulu, the mother and manager of Grammy-winning Nigerian singer Burna Boy, has urged the music star to consider settling down and starting a family.
Mrs Ogulu made the remark while celebrating Burna Boy’s 35th birthday with close friends and family on Wednesday.
In a video from the birthday celebration shared on Snapchat by one of the singer’s associates, Richie 7, Burna Boy was seen making birthday wishes when his mother encouraged him to also wish for “a good wife and children.”
“I wish for good health and prosperity,” the singer said.
Responding, Mrs Ogulu said, “Add good wife and children.”
The light-hearted exchange has since attracted reactions from fans on social media, with many describing it as a typical mother’s heartfelt desire for her son to settle down.
Burna Boy has previously spoken about his decision to remain unmarried and childless. In an interview a few years ago, the Afrobeats star explained that his demanding music career has left him with little time to commit to family life.
He said he would rather wait until he is ready than have children out of wedlock or raise them without being fully present in their lives.
According to the singer, he wants to be actively involved in raising his future children and believes parenthood should come at a time when he can dedicate the attention and responsibility it deserves.
