Lagos Police Probe Delivery of Bullet-Filled Parcel to First Bank MD’s Residence
The Lagos State Police Command has launched an investigation into the delivery of a suspicious parcel containing live ammunition to the residence of the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of First Bank Nigeria, Olusegun Alebiosu.
The Commissioner of Police in Lagos State, Tijani Fatai, disclosed this during a press briefing on Tuesday, describing the incident as a serious security concern that requires thorough investigation.
According to the police chief, Alebiosu reported the matter to the command on May 7, 2026, after a security guard at his Lagos residence received a parcel on his behalf.
Fatai explained that upon opening the package, two rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition were discovered, raising suspicion about the sender’s motive and prompting an immediate police investigation.
“Presently, I can confirm to you that the matter is still under investigation. It is a serious case and the investigation needs to be more thorough,” the commissioner said.
He added that no suspect has been arrested in connection with the incident, despite the First Bank chief reportedly providing the police with the names of individuals he suspects may be linked to the parcel.
“Presently, no suspect is in custody. Even though the MD has mentioned some people he suspected of being the brains behind it, that remains his suspicion. We are still working on it,” Fatai stated.
The police commissioner made the clarification while responding to questions on reports surrounding the delivery of the parcel.
Meanwhile, the Lagos State Police Command also announced the arrest of several criminal suspects during recent operations across the state. The command said officers recovered 14 firearms, four live cartridges, 51 mobile phones, one motorcycle, 47 sacks of military camouflage uniforms, and vandalised electrical cables.
Police authorities assured residents that investigations into the ammunition parcel incident and other criminal cases would continue until those responsible are identified and brought to justice.
