June 12: Dotun Sanusi Commends Security Agencies, Calls for Swift Rescue of Abducted Oriire Pupils, Teachers
The Okanlomo Oodua and Bada Olubadan of Ibadanland, Chief Jubril Dotun Sanusi, has congratulated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on the occasion of Nigeria’s Democracy Day, while extending warm felicitations to the Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde, and the people of the state.
In a Democracy Day message, Chief Sanusi praised the resilience, sacrifices and unwavering commitment of security agencies across the country in their efforts to protect lives and property, describing their contributions as vital to the sustenance of democracy, peace and national development.
The renowned philanthropist and business mogul, however, expressed deep concern over the abduction of school pupils and teachers in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State, calling for the swift rescue of the victims and their safe return to their families.
He also urged security agencies to intensify ongoing operations and ensure the successful rescue of all those still being held in captivity, stressing that children and innocent citizens should not be subjected to such traumatic experiences.
Chief Sanusi noted that the continued captivity of the pupils and teachers remains a source of concern to many Nigerians and called for sustained efforts by security agencies and relevant stakeholders to secure their freedom.
While sympathising with families affected by insecurity across the country, he particularly commiserated with those who have lost loved ones to criminal activities, praying that God grants them the strength and fortitude to bear their losses.
“As we commemorate Democracy Day, let us renew our collective commitment to peace, security and the protection of human lives. A secure society remains the foundation upon which meaningful development and prosperity can thrive,” he said.
Chief Sanusi further reaffirmed his support for all lawful initiatives and collaborative efforts aimed at strengthening security, promoting peace and ensuring the safety of lives and property in Oyo State and Nigeria as a whole.
He urged Nigerians to continue supporting security agencies and government at all levels in the collective quest for a safer and more prosperous nation.
