The incident occurred at about 1:30 a.m. on Friday when a group of armed men reportedly stormed the community, shooting sporadically and causing panic among residents.

In a statement issued by the Public Relations Officer of the Ondo State Police Command, DSP Jimoh Kazeem, the attackers forcefully gained access to the residence of one Mr. Olaosebikan Isaac. In an attempt to escape the attack, Isaac fled into a nearby bush, leaving behind his son, Master Olaosebikan Victor, who was subsequently kidnapped by the assailants.

Kazeem added that another resident, Mr. Joel Owalekan, reported that the gunmen damaged parts of his residence while attempting to gain entry. He, however, escaped unharmed after fleeing to safety.

According to the police spokesman, officers of the command, alongside operatives of the Amotekun Corps, swiftly responded to the distress call and launched a coordinated search-and-rescue operation.

“Upon receipt of the report, the Divisional Police Officer and his men, in collaboration with the Amotekun Corps, immediately mobilised to the scene and commenced efforts to rescue the abducted child,” he stated.

Security operatives have since intensified combing operations across surrounding forests and suspected escape routes in a bid to locate the victim and apprehend the perpetrators. Police authorities also disclosed that investigations are ongoing, while exhibits recovered from the scene are being examined to aid the probe.

The Commissioner of Police in Ondo State, Felix Ohagwu, has directed tactical teams, intelligence units and other security formations to intensify efforts toward the safe rescue of the child and the arrest of those responsible for the attack.

“The Command is working closely with other security agencies and local vigilante groups to ensure the criminals are brought to justice,” Kazeem said, assuring residents that all available resources are being deployed to secure the victim’s release.

The police further urged members of the public to remain calm and vigilant, while encouraging anyone with useful information to assist security agencies in the ongoing investigation and rescue efforts.
