Governor Makinde Briefs Oyo Residents, Reaffirms Commitment to Rescue Abducted Teachers, Pupils
Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has reassured residents that his administration remains fully committed to securing the safe return of the teachers and pupils abducted in Oriire Local Government Area, saying efforts to rescue them are ongoing.
The governor gave the assurance while briefing residents on the government’s response to the abduction, stressing that the victims remain a top priority of his administration.
He explained that while details of ongoing rescue efforts could not be disclosed because of the sensitive nature of the operations, residents should not interpret the government’s silence as inaction.
According to him, security agencies are working tirelessly behind the scenes to secure the release of the abductees, adding that they have neither been forgotten nor abandoned.
Makinde also appealed to residents to remain vigilant and continue supporting security agencies with useful information, emphasizing that security is a shared responsibility.
He further reminded the public that the state’s toll-free emergency line, 615, remains available for reporting security-related concerns free of charge.
