50 Ibadan Single Mothers Get Support Through AWOCEMI’s Grace Basket Initiative
More than 50 single mothers in Ibadan have received support under the _Grace Basket Initiative_, an empowerment program run by the Ayoka Women Care and Empowerment Initiative (AWOCEMI).
The outreach, held in Ibadan, provided beneficiaries with resources and training aimed at helping them achieve financial independence and improve their quality of life.
AWOCEMI Founder and Executive Director, Olajumoke Shonukan, said the initiative reflects the organization’s commitment to social responsibility and its mission to uplift vulnerable women.
“Our vision at AWOCEMI is to empower women, strengthen families, and create opportunities for lasting transformation,” Shonukan said.
“Grace Basket is one step toward making that vision real by addressing the immediate needs of single mothers and giving them a pathway to self-reliance.”
She also thanked partners, volunteers, and team members for backing the program and helping to bring hope to beneficiaries.
Project Manager Tolulope Bukoye told beneficiaries that the initiative was designed to equip women aged 18 to 35 with practical skills and support through strategic partnerships.
“We want to engage these women meaningfully so they can contribute to the development of their families and the wider society,” Bukoye said.
AWOCEMI Field Officer Moyosore Ajayi urged the women not to be discouraged by societal challenges, stressing that progress is possible through resilience and community support.
“Single mothers often deal with social stigma, financial pressure, and mental health struggles,” Ajayi said. “These challenges are real, but they can be overcome when we work together and support one another.”
Several beneficiaries expressed gratitude to AWOCEMI for prioritizing their welfare through the Grace Basket Initiative, saying the program had given them renewed hope and confidence.
