Oyo 2027: Aborisade Preaches Unity, Canvasses Support Ahead of ADC Governorship Primaries
As political activities continue to gather momentum ahead of the 2027 general elections, a frontline governorship aspirant under the platform of the African Democratic Congress in Oyo State, Barrister Chief Niyi Aborisade, has called on all aspirants within the party to embrace peaceful conduct and preserve the spirit of unity during the forthcoming primary elections.
The legal practitioner and politician appealed particularly to House of Representatives and House of Assembly aspirants contesting under the ADC platform to see themselves as partners in progress rather than political rivals.
Aborisade stated that the strength of any political party lies not in the number of aspirants it produces, but in the ability of members to maintain harmony and remain united despite differences in political interests.
He noted that internal democracy should not be turned into a platform for conflict and personal attacks, stressing that every aspirant has the constitutional right to seek elective positions without creating unnecessary tension within the party.
Speaking with supporters during ongoing political consultations, the governorship hopeful said the party must avoid the mistakes that have weakened several political platforms in the past.
According to him, many parties lose elections long before the general polls due to unresolved internal disputes and divisions arising from primary contests.
“We must understand that after the primaries, we will still remain members of the same political family. Political ambition should not create hatred among us. Love, peace and understanding must guide our actions because unity remains our greatest strength,” he said.
Aborisade further urged party members across the state to rise above sentiments and work collectively toward strengthening the party ahead of the 2027 election cycle.
He stressed that Nigerians are increasingly looking toward alternative political voices and platforms, adding that ADC must present itself as a disciplined and credible option capable of winning public confidence.
The leading governorship aspirant also used the opportunity to intensify consultations for his ambition, appealing to delegates and party members to support his aspiration during the party primary.
He called on members to troop out en masse and vote for him, promising not to disappoint if entrusted with the party’s ticket.
“I seek your support, your cooperation and your trust. Leadership is about service and collective responsibility. Together, we can build a stronger party and a better Oyo State. I believe our journey is a shared mission that requires the contribution of every committed member,” he added.
Political analysts within the party believe Aborisade’s message may resonate among members who desire a less confrontational and more inclusive political process ahead of the party primaries.
With consultations and grassroots mobilization intensifying among aspirants across Oyo State, observers say the race toward the ADC governorship ticket may eventually be shaped not only by popularity and structure, but by the ability of aspirants to build unity and inspire confidence among party members.
