Salaries, Incomes Lose Value as Rising Cost of Living Sparks Concern Among Residents in Ibadan
The rising cost of living in Ibadan has continued to generate concern among residents, as many households struggle to cope with increasing financial pressure.
Everyday expenses are reportedly climbing faster than earnings, leaving many people worried about their economic survival.
Findings revealed that many residents now struggle to meet basic needs, as their salaries and incomes are often exhausted shortly after payment.
Residents attribute this situation to the persistent rise in the prices of goods and services, transportation costs, and broader economic instability.
Many respondents explained that essential expenses such as food, rent, and fuel have increased significantly, making it increasingly difficult for earnings to cover basic household needs.
In their Separate Opinions, a cross-section of residents advised that individuals should consider developing additional sources of income, noting that relying solely on salaries and incomes is no longer sufficient in the current economic climate.
They also called on the government to Work on economic stability, stressing that a more stable environment would help ease financial pressure on citizens.
Concerned Stakeholders also urged The NEC, CBN, Ministry of Finance and Labour to address inflation, improve economic conditions, and review wage structures.
They also encouraged individuals to adopt better financial management practices to cope with rising living costs.
