President Tinubu Shifts Departure for France–Kenya–Rwanda Trip to Sunday

President Bola Tinubu has postponed his departure for a scheduled three-nation working visit to France, Kenya, and Rwanda.

Initially slated to leave Abuja on Saturday, the president will now embark on the trip on Sunday, according to an update shared on X by Bayo Onanuga, his special adviser on information and strategy. No reason was provided for the change in schedule.

Tinubu is expected to begin the tour in France before heading to Nairobi, Kenya, where he will participate in the Africa–France Summit. The summit, co-chaired by French President Emmanuel Macron and Kenyan President William Ruto, is set to take place from May 11 to May 12.

Discussions at the summit will centre on key issues including energy transition, green industrialisation, digital transformation, climate action, and reforms to the global financing system. The gathering, themed “Africa Forward: Africa–France Partnerships for Innovation and Growth,” aims to deepen strategic ties between African nations and France while promoting sustainable economic development.

Following the summit, Tinubu will travel to Kigali, Rwanda, to attend the Africa CEO Forum scheduled for May 14 to May 15. The forum, themed “Scale or Fail,” will bring together business leaders, investors, and policymakers to explore ways to accelerate economic transformation through regional integration and cross-border investments.
