Governor Adeleke to provide free artificial limbs for 1,000 amputees in Osun From May 7 – Check Story for How to Apply
The Osun State Government, under Governor Ademola Adeleke, has launched a large-scale humanitarian initiative to provide free artificial limbs for 1,000 amputees across the state.
The Special Adviser on Special Needs to the governor, Kamil Aransi, disclosed this, describing the programme as part of the administration’s commitment to inclusive governance and social welfare.
Aransi noted that the initiative builds on the Osun State Discrimination Against Persons with Disabilities (Prohibition) Law, 2024, signed on June 10, 2024, which guarantees key rights for persons with disabilities, including access to free healthcare services.
He added that Adeleke is the first governor in the state’s history to introduce a state-funded programme for the provision of artificial limbs to amputees.
According to him, the intervention is designed to restore mobility, independence, and dignity to beneficiaries across Osun State.
“The first phase, the Measurement and Assessment Camp, will hold from May 7 to May 9, 2026, at the SOB Conference and Events Center, starting from 7:30 a.m. daily,” Aransi said. “Beneficiaries will undergo detailed medical assessments to determine the most suitable prosthetic limbs for their needs.”
He urged prospective beneficiaries to register and schedule appointments by calling or sending messages to 08038044318 or 08137991959, adding that walk-in participation will not be allowed.
Aransi further explained that fittings will be conducted the following month by accredited professionals, with post-fitting support to ensure proper use and long-term functionality of the prosthetic limbs.
He said the initiative reflects the government’s broader agenda to strengthen support systems for persons with disabilities.
“This programme aligns with our commitment to expand healthcare access, promote dignity, and ensure that vulnerable residents are not left behind,” he added.
