Just In: Datti Baba-Ahmed Dumps Labour Party for PRP Ahead 2027 Elections

Former Labour Party vice-presidential candidate in the 2023 election, Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed, has announced plans to leave the Labour Party and join the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP).

Datti made the disclosure on Tuesday during an interview on Politics Today, a Channels Television programme.

He said his decision was driven by unresolved internal disputes within the Labour Party, adding that the party had strayed from the principles it once represented.

“I am leaving the Labour Party tomorrow (Wednesday). There is more to it. When there was real peace in the Labour Party, they posted someone back.

“They redeployed an individual with a specific purpose, and because of that person’s antecedents, life was made particularly difficult for me. What the Labour Party stood for then is no longer what it is today,” he said.

The politician stated that his resignation would take effect at midnight and confirmed that he would immediately align with the PRP.

“I am leaving the Labour Party at midnight, and I am joining PRP. PRP is the new destination. It is a party with a rich history, about 75 years old,” he added.
