EFCC Warns Content Creators Against Unauthorised Use of Its Identity in Skits, Productions

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has issued a stern warning to content creators and media producers against using its name, logo, uniforms, or likeness in skits and other productions without prior approval.

In a video statement shared on its official X account on Saturday, the anti-graft agency said it had noticed a rising trend of individuals incorporating EFCC identity elements into online content without authorisation.

“It has come to the attention of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission that some individuals and content creators are using the name, logo, and likeness of the EFCC in skits and other media content,” the commission stated.

According to the agency, many of these portrayals misrepresent its values, image, and standard operating procedures.

“We wish to inform the general public that the EFCC has not authorised any such use,” it added.

The commission further clarified that it does not endorse, sponsor, or support any comedy, drama, or digital content featuring its identity unless written permission has been granted.

It urged immediate compliance, warning that anyone found using its name, logo, uniforms, or any identifying symbols in skits or promotional materials without prior written approval would face prosecution.

The development follows previous concerns raised by the commission over increasing cases of impersonation and fake operations carried out by individuals posing as EFCC officials.

The EFCC also revealed that intelligence reports had linked fraudsters to deceptive schemes aimed at damaging its reputation, including targeting unsuspecting youths at eateries and recreational centres in major cities.
