‎Kuso’s Empowerment Initiative Sparks Political Momentum in Ibarapa East Ahead 2026 Chairmanship Election

‎With the 2026 local government elections drawing closer, the political atmosphere in Ibarapa East received a significant boost on Wednesday as chairmanship aspirant, Hon. Abdul Akeem Akintola (Kuso), empowered 100 residents across the ten wards of the council.

‎The event, held at the Eruwa Township Hall, was more than a philanthropic exercise it signaled growing political momentum for the aspirant, as party leaders, stakeholders, and a large crowd of supporters gathered in what observers described as a strategic grassroots engagement.

‎The “2026 Continuity Cash Empowerment” programme saw beneficiaries, carefully selected from each ward, receive financial support aimed at strengthening their economic capacity. Each ward produced ten beneficiaries, all presented by their respective ward leaders.

‎The presence of key figures within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) structure in the local government added political weight to the programme, reinforcing Kuso’s rising profile within party ranks.

‎Representing the Local Government Chairman, Alhaji Aderibigbe Ganiyu, the Secretary to the Local Government, Hon. Ogundele Taiwo, described the initiative as a commendable effort that aligns with people-oriented leadership. He encouraged beneficiaries to

‎make good use of the opportunity and acknowledged the aspirant’s consistency in community support.
‎Stakeholders who spoke at the event subtly linked Kuso’s generosity to leadership capacity, noting that his track record of interventions reflects readiness for public office. The Local Government Women Leader, Mrs. Ayaoba Abiola, highlighted his connection with the grassroots, describing him as a man who understands the needs of ordinary people.

‎Speakers from Lanlate and Eruwa communities also used the platform to mobilize support, emphasizing unity and loyalty ahead of the political season. They stressed that Kuso’s longstanding relationship with the people gives him an edge in the forthcoming race.

‎In his address, Kuso carefully balanced philanthropy with political messaging. While maintaining that his empowerment programmes were not vote-driven, he acknowledged his ambition to serve and make a lasting impact.

‎He noted that his journey has been shaped by personal growth and discipline, adding that his firm stance against injustice and oppression has often been misunderstood as stubbornness.
‎Highlighting past interventions, including the distribution of solar lights, textbooks, and boreholes, he positioned himself as a candidate with both experience and vision for grassroots development.

‎He also called for unity among party members, urging them to avoid division as the election approaches, while assuring that more impactful programmes would follow if elected.

‎The symbolic hand-to-hand distribution of cash by Kuso and his wife to beneficiaries served as the high point of the event, reinforcing his direct connection with the people.

‎As political activities gradually intensify in Ibarapa East, the empowerment programme appears to have not only provided relief to beneficiaries but also strengthened Kuso’s foothold in the local political landscape.
