According to a memo signed by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, two cabinet members — Mr. Wale Edun and Arc. Ahmed Musa Dangiwa — are to exit the cabinet, with replacements already named.

Until the latest development, Edun served as Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy. Oyedele previously served as Minister of State in the ministry.

Similarly, Mr. Muttaqha Rabe Darma has been named ministerial nominee and minister-designate for the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development.

The memo also directed Dangiwa to hand over responsibilities to the Minister of State in the ministry.

It further stated that all handover processes must be completed on or before the close of business on Thursday, April 23, 2026.

Explaining the President’s decision, Akume said:

“These changes are aimed at strengthening cohesion, improving synergy in governance, and ensuring more impactful economic delivery to Nigerians through the Renewed Hope Agenda.”

He added that, in approving the reshuffle, the President had fully exercised his constitutional powers as provided under Sections 147 and 148 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (1999, as amended).

President Tinubu also thanked the outgoing ministers for their service to the nation and wished them success in their future endeavours.

Akume further noted that the President had assured all cabinet members that the process of reinvigoration within government would remain continuous.
