Breaking: PDP Aspirants Will Contest Elections on New Platform Amid Crisis __ Says Party PRO, Ogunsina

The Oyo State Public Relations Officer of the Peoples Democratic Party, Michael Ogunsina, has said that aspirants of the party in the state are prepared to contest forthcoming elections on a new political platform, citing the lingering internal crisis within the PDP.

Ogunsina explained that the move is aimed at providing a stable and crisis-free platform for party members to actualize their political ambitions, while efforts continue to resolve the leadership dispute currently affecting the party.

He, however, emphasized that despite the consideration of an alternative platform, the PDP remains committed to pursuing its case in court to reclaim its structure and legitimacy.

The development comes amid fresh legal proceedings at the Supreme Court of Nigeria, which has granted accelerated hearing in an appeal filed by a faction of the party.

The application, moved by Chris Uche (SAN), was approved by the apex court, which directed respondents to file their responses within five days and fixed April 22 for the hearing of the substantive appeal.

The appeal seeks to overturn earlier rulings that halted the party’s planned National Convention in Ibadan in November 2025, with the appellants arguing that the lower courts lacked jurisdiction over the matter.

As the legal battle intensifies, the outcome of the Supreme Court’s decision is expected to shape the future of the PDP, even as stakeholders explore contingency plans to remain politically relevant.
