Oyo Police Command Arrests 10 Suspects Over Forgery, Impersonation in Ibadan
The Oyo State Police Command has arrested 10 suspects linked to a syndicate involved in impersonation and document forgery in Ibadan.
The command disclosed that the arrests were made by operatives of its Monitoring Unit following credible intelligence provided by members of the public.
According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka, actionable intelligence received on April 9 revealed that a group specialising in the forgery of official documents, stamps, and certificates of government agencies and private organisations was operating from a hideout in the Ogunpa area of Ibadan.
Acting on the intelligence, operatives carried out a coordinated operation that led to the arrest of the 10-members syndicate.
The police said search warrants were subsequently executed at the suspects’ operational bases, leading to the recovery of several incriminating items, including forged Police Character Certificates and counterfeit stamps of the Nigeria Police Force Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Ogun State CID Eleweran Office, Iyaganku Area Command, and various Divisional Police Officer offices.
Other items recovered include stamps belonging to the Oyo State Government across different ministries, as well as those of several commercial banks and private organisations.
The command added that the suspects have confessed to their involvement and are providing useful information to support ongoing investigations.
