Oyo Guber Hopeful, Opatoki Honoured at Igbo Elerin Day In Recognition of his Contributions to Grassroots Development

A governorship aspirant in Oyo State, Oluseye Oladosu Opatoki, has been honoured with an Outstanding Award by the Igbo Elerin Community in recognition of his contributions to grassroots development.

The award was presented during the 2026 Igbo Elerin Day celebration held on April 11, where community leaders, elders, and residents gathered to celebrate individuals who have made significant impacts in the area.

The organisers said the honour was in appreciation of Opatoki’s sustained efforts in community development, social empowerment, and civic engagement, noting that his interventions have positively affected the lives of many residents within Igbo Elerin and its surrounding communities.

Stakeholders at the event described Opatoki as a committed grassroots leader whose actions reflect a deep sense of responsibility to the people. They commended his empowerment initiatives and visible contributions to community growth, describing them as impactful and far-reaching.

In his acceptance speech, Opatoki dedicated the award to the Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde, praising his leadership and policies, which he said have created an enabling environment for communities to thrive.

The recognition is seen as a boost to Opatoki’s political profile ahead of the 2027 governorship election, with supporters expressing confidence in his leadership capacity and prospects.
