Oyo Government Decentralizes Gratuities, Death Benefits Payments for Easy Access; ‎Begins Disbursement to Retirees

‎The Oyo State Government has flagged off the disbursement of gratuities and death benefits to retired primary school teachers and local government staff across the state.

‎The disbursement was announced by the Chairman of the Local Government Staff Pension Board, Honorable Akeem Ademola Ige, who stated that the payment covers beneficiaries under both the state and local government pension schemes.

‎Speaking during the flag-off in Ibadan, Ige noted that the exercise is part of ongoing efforts by the administration of Governor Seyi Makinde to offset outstanding entitlements owed to retirees.

‎He further explained that the payment process has been decentralised across the state’s geopolitical zones to ease access for pensioners and reduce the stress and financial burden associated with long-distance travel.

‎In his remarks, The Secretary of the Nigeria Union of Pensioners (NUP), Oyo State council, Comrade Olusegun Abatan, appreciated Governor Seyi Makinde for his commitment to the welfare of retirees and pensioners in the state.

‎He then warned beneficiaries of the government kind gestures to use it judiciously and beware of fraudsters.

‎The disbursement marks another step in the government’s continued commitment to improving the welfare of retirees in the state.
