‎Oyo Government Warns Residents of Heavy Rainfall Tonight, Urges Caution

‎The Oyo State Government has issued a public advisory warning residents of expected heavy rainfall tonight, March 31, 2026, and in the coming days, particularly within Ibadan and surrounding areas.

‎The alert was issued by the Oyo State Emergency Management Agency, SEMA, this afternoon.

‎Speaking on the development, the State Commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources, Honorable Ademola Aderinto, said the advisory reflects the gradual onset of the rainy season, with forecasts indicating intense rainfall activity.

‎He, however, stressed that there is no flood warning at this time but the rain will be heavy.

‎He urged members of the public to take precautionary measures, including securing their homes before leaving, planning movements early, and ensuring they reach their destinations before rainfall begins to avoid being stranded.

‎The government further assured residents that relevant agencies will continue to provide timely updates throughout the rainy season to ensure public safety and preparedness across the state.
