Oyo Government Fixes April 3 for Coronation of Elevated Ibadan High Chiefs, Senator Sarafadeen Alli Among
The Oyo State Government has scheduled Friday, April 3, 2026, for the coronation and official beaded-crown wearing ceremony of newly elevated High Chiefs in Ibadan.
The event will hold at Mapo Hall, according to a correspondence from the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Ademola Ojo, addressed to the Olubadan.
The letter, issued in response to a request from the Olubadan for a list of High Chiefs and Baales due for elevation, stated that while compilation is underway, it is “traditionally necessary and essential” for recently promoted members of the Olubadan-in-Council to immediately receive their beaded crowns.
The commissioner noted that any delay could generate “unnecessary insinuations” or political interpretations, which the government is keen to avoid in order to safeguard the integrity of the Ibadan traditional institution.
The High Chiefs slated for coronation include:
High Chief Akeem Bolaji Adewoyin- Ekeerin Olubadan
High Chief Sarafadeen Abidin Alli- Ekaarun Balogun
High Chief Kola Babalola- Ekaarun Olubadan
Ojo conveyed the government’s readiness for the ceremony and thanked the Olubadan for his cooperation as preparations progress for the historic event.
