“Does APC Also Control the Judiciary in Ibadan?” — Wike Questions Makinde Over Earlier Claim

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has responded sharply to comments by Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, over claims about institutional influence and backings by the ruling party, APC.

Makinde had earlier alleged that the All Progressives Congress may have the judiciary, the Independent National Electoral Commission, and other institutions on its side, but maintained that the Peoples Democratic Party has the backing of the people, who would ultimately decide electoral outcomes.

Reacting, Wike questioned the governor’s position, pointing to developments within Oyo State.

“Does the APC also control the judiciary in Ibadan?” he asked, referring to the state capital, which is under Makinde’s leadership.

Wike further criticised Makinde for what he described as engaging in political battles without the capacity to sustain them.

“You started a fight you cannot finish,” the minister added.

The exchange underscores deepening tensions within the opposition, as party leaders continue to trade words over political influence and control of democratic institutions.
