‎Nigerian Army Announces 2025/2026 Educational Sponsorship Screening for Children of Fallen Heroes



‎The Nigerian Army has announced the commencement of its verification and screening exercise for the 2025/2026 academic session educational sponsorship scheme dedicated to the children of fallen heroes.

‎The initiative forms part of the Army’s welfare programmes designed to support families of personnel who lost their lives in active service to the nation.

‎According to the announcement issued by the Department of Army Administration, the sponsorship scheme is aimed at guaranteeing access to Primary, Secondary and Tertiary education for eligible children of deceased officers and soldiers.

‎The programme underscores the Army’s continued commitment to the welfare of its personnel and their families, even after their ultimate sacrifice.

‎The exercise will be conducted across the country’s six geopolitical zones on scheduled dates between February and March 2026.

‎For the South-South zone, the screening will take place from February 23 to 26, 2026, at Headquarters 6 Division, Port Harcourt, Rivers State. In the South-East, the exercise is slated for February 28 to March 3, 2026, at Headquarters 82 Division, Enugu, Enugu State.

‎Beneficiaries in the South-West zone are expected at Headquarters 2 Division, Ibadan, Oyo State, from March 5 to 8, 2026.

‎Those in the North-East will be screened from March 11 to 14, 2026, at Headquarters Nigerian Army Armour Corps, Bauchi, Bauchi State.

‎For the North-West zone, the exercise is scheduled for March 16 to 20, 2026, at Headquarters 1 Division Nigerian Army, Kaduna, Kaduna State.

‎Meanwhile, applicants from the North Central zone and the Federal Capital Territory will be attended to from March 23 to 27, 2026, at Army Headquarters Command Officers’ Mess, Asokoro, Abuja.

‎Applicants are required to present several documents during the screening.

‎These include a handwritten letter of application stating the names of the children, admission letters including JAMB admission letters where applicable, the latest school report cards or results, and letters confirming pupil or studentship status.

‎Other mandatory documents are birth certificates, Part II orders of birth and death, the death certificate of the deceased Nigerian Army personnel, condolence letter, notification of casualty (NOTICAS), recent passport photographs, bank account details including BVN and account statements, telephone number of the beneficiary, and school fee receipts.

‎The Army advised all eligible beneficiaries and their guardians to adhere strictly to the scheduled dates and ensure that all required documents are complete to facilitate a smooth verification process.
