Yinka Ayefele Throws Subtle Jab at Beautiful Nubia Amid Ongoing Face-off over Alleged Melody Theft
Gospel musician Yinka Ayefele has stirred fresh reactions online after posting what many believe to be a subtle jab at fellow artiste, Beautiful Nubia, amid their ongoing face-off over alleged melody theft.
The development follows recent accusations by Beautiful Nubia, who claimed that elements of his song were used without proper acknowledgment.
In a post shared on his verified social media page, Ayefele wrote: WHO IS THE COMPOSER OF EBAMI GBONDO YI GBE… JANGBALAJUGBU… Who was acknowledged..? INFRINGEMENT AYE..”

JANGBALAJUGBU is one of the lines in Beautiful Nubia’s old track and popularly known by many of his listeners but nobody can validate the original owner of JANGBALAJUGBU because it had been a folklore even before Beautiful Nubia started singing.
Though he did not mention any name directly, the timing of the post has led many fans to interpret it as a pointed response to the allegations.
The controversy began after Beautiful Nubia publicly accused Ayefele of borrowing from his 1997 song, alleging that the melody was replicated in one of
Ayefele’s gospel tracks without due credit. The claim quickly gained traction online, sparking debates about originality, traditional influences, and copyright protection within Nigeria’s music industry.

Ayefele’s latest statement appears to question authorship and acknowledgment, subtly shifting the narrative toward the origins of the disputed composition.
Supporters of the gospel singer argue that many indigenous songs have shared cultural roots, while critics insist that clear credit should be given where creative borrowing occurs.
Meanwhile, another artiste mentioned in the controversy, BBO, has not issued any public statement regarding the matter. His silence has further fueled speculation as fans continue to weigh in on the unfolding dispute between the two respected musicians.
