Nigerian Railway Corporation Adjusts Train Schedule Over FCT Council Elections

The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has announced a temporary adjustment to its Abuja–Kaduna train service schedule due to the upcoming Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Council Elections. The change, which affects outbound services, was disclosed in a press release issued in Abuja on February 19, 2026.

According to the corporation, the outbound train from Abuja to Kaduna on Saturday, February 21, 2026, will now depart at 7:30 a.m. The adjustment is aimed at ensuring smooth operations and compliance with movement restrictions expected during the elections.

The NRC clarified that the inbound service from Kaduna to Abuja will remain unchanged, departing at 2:30 p.m. as previously scheduled. Passengers traveling on that route are advised to adhere to the normal timetable.

In its advisory, the corporation urged passengers to arrive at the station early, particularly before the commencement of any restriction of movement associated with the elections.

The management emphasized the importance of planning ahead to avoid delays or inconvenience.

Normal train services are expected to resume on Sunday.

The NRC expressed regret for any inconvenience the temporary adjustment may cause. The statement was signed by Callistus Unyimadu, Chief Public Relations Officer, on behalf of management.
